NEW HAVEN, Conn. - This Saturday, Yale will travel to the University of Bridgeport for a tri-meet with University of New Hampshire. Yale is coming off of a loss to Penn, while UB and UNH met at Pitt last weekend. The Wildcats won the competition with a 194.025, and the Purple Knights placed third with a 188.475.
The Bulldogs are familiar with both of their opponents, having competed against both of them at least once in each of the past three years. Yale and Bridgeport faced each other twice last season, first at Springfield College and then at the Nutmeg Classic in the John J. Lee Amphitheater. Although Yale came out on top both times, the margin of victory wasn't large. On the other hand, when the Bulldogs went to UNH's Fox Run Invitational last year, the Wildcats won.
Yale is still struggling to fill up each event's line-up, with floor being the only event last weekend that had six routines. The team was hardest hit on bars, where two out of the five routines competed were watered down. However, the Bulldogs have received contributions from unexpected sources, which head coach Barbara Tonry hopes to use more fully in the upcoming weeks.
Competition starts at 4:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Rec Center.
