Two Yale Gymnasts Earn ECAC Weekly Honors

Senior Kathryn Fong was named the ECAC Co-Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 30 for her performance in Yale's first home win against Brown on Saturday. For the week ending January 16, teammate Kristen Campbell picked up Rookie of the Week Honors following Yale's three-way meet with Rhode Island and New Hampshire.

Kathryn Fong earned a 9.85 on the uneven bars, her best event, as Yale defeated Brown 191.25 to 184.15 in the John J. Lee Ampitheater on Saturday. The score was the highest awarded to any gymnast in any event during the entire day. Fong also earned a 9.75 on the floor exercise. She was named Co-Athlete of the Week along with Towson's Christina Ghani.

Against Rhode Island and New Hampshire, Kristen Campbell turned in an all-around score of 37.300, good for third place overall. She was Yale's top gymnast on the beam, scoring a 9.400, and also led the Bulldogs on the vault with a score of 9.600.

The gymnastics team holds its annual Youth Day this weekend, hosting Southern Connecticut State and MIT in the John J. Lee Ampitheater at 1:00 PM. It is Yale's last home meet until the Bulldogs play host to the Ivy League Championships on February 26.
