NEW HAVEN, Conn. - This Saturday, Mar. 3, the Bulldogs will be taking on Brown in the John J. Lee Amphitheater at 1pm. The afternoon will be bittersweet, as it is both Alumnae Day and Senior Day. This is the last home meet for Yale's five seniors: Jessica Blick, Jessica Tai, Suchitra Paul, Miki Seltzer, and team captain Sarah Peterson, who will not compete due to an injury. They will be honored in a short ceremony after competition.
This will only be Yale's second dual meet against an Ivy League opponent. Brown's current record is 5-7, despite freshman Alicia Sacramone, who was the 2005 World Champion on floor and received the silver medal on vault at the 2006 World Championships. When the Bulldogs and the Bears met last weekend at the Ivy Classic, Yale outscored Brown 190.550-186.975.
The afternoon should be filled with several close match-ups, between the teams and individuals. While Sacramone had five first place finishes last weekend, Yale all-arounders Alina Liao and Brigitte Kivisto should give her a run for her money. Brown gymnasts Alanna Kwoka and Jennifer Sobuta are also contenders, both having won ECAC awards recently. On beam, Lauren Tatsuno is a force to be reckoned with, having consistently put up high scores this season. Seltzer, who qualified for the NCAA Regionals in vault and floor last year, will challenge Sacramone in their mutual strongest events.
Following the meet, there will be an Alumnae Reception in the Kiphuth Trophy Room.
