NEW HAVEN, Conn. - On Saturday, Mar. 14, Yale faces one of its toughest meets of the season, against Penn State, University of Arizona, and the host, University of Maryland. Pac-10 member Arizona is currently ranked 19th in the nation, and Big Ten member Penn State is ranked 15th. Yale is coming off of a loss to Towson, 192.500-183.500.
The Bulldogs' opponents are all coming off of impressive dual meet victories. Maryland just defeated Pittsburgh at home on Wednesday, 195.025-194.100. Last Sunday, Penn State defeated West Virginia, 196.225-195.925. Similarly, Arizona claimed its fifth win in a row over Denver, 195.350-195.025.
While Yale has been struggling to fill its line-ups, it has slowly been adding routines over the past few weeks. A month ago, the team only had four routines on each event, one less than the minimum five. Last week however, they had 21 routines. Alina Liao, Sarah Hughes, and Allison Mak are still competing in the all-around, while Sherry Yang and Brigitte Kivisto compete on three events.
Competition starts at 4:00 p.m. in Maryland's Comcast Center.
