Senior Stopped 69 Shots at Nutmeg Classic
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Just two games into her comeback from an injury, Yale senior goaltender Jackee Snikeris (Downingtown, Pa.) has earned another award. Snikeris, who won the Belliveau Award as the top goaltender at the Nutmeg Classic this past weekend, was named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week on Tuesday.
Snikeris had missed seven straight games after being injured in the first period of Yale's game at Harvard on Oct. 29. She showed no signs of rust when she made her return Friday night in the opening round of the Nutmeg Classic, stopping 28 of 30 shots and leading Yale to a 5-2 win over UConn. The Huskies had won the past three Nutmeg Classics.
Snikeris added 41 saves Saturday in the championship game against Quinnipiac. For the weekend, her save percentage was .945 and her goals-against average was 2.02.
Snikeris is the first Bulldog to earn one of the conference's weekly awards this year. She already has the Yale career record for shutouts and has a chance to break the school records for career goals-against average and save percentage.
Yale plays its last two games before winter break this weekend at Princeton and Quinnipiac.
