Ladiges Stops 32
ITHACA, N.Y. – Colgate broke open a scoreless tie with three goals in the second period, including two on the power play, and went on to beat Yale 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Starr Rink. Senior goalie Genny Ladiges made 32 saves.
Yale (0-4-0, 0-2-0 ECAC Hockey) outshot the Raiders 9-4 in the first period but could not get any past Colgate net minder Kimberly Sass, who would finish the game with 19 saves for the shutout. The Raiders went up 1-0 on a power play goal by forward Jocelyn Simpson at 6:45, then extended that lead slightly more than two minutes later on a goal by forward Miriam Drubel.
Forward Taylor Volpe extended the Colgate lead to 3-0 with a goal just 2:21 before the second intermission. All told, the Raiders outshot Yale 17-3 in the second period.
Forward Melissa Kueber scored 15 seconds into the third period to make it 4-0, and that was the end of the scoring. Colgate (4-3-1, 1-1-1 ECAC Hockey) improved to 3-1-1 at home.
Yale visits Providence on Tuesday.
