Three Seniors Honored

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's ice hockey team had 19 student-athletes named to the 2014-15 ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team, which was announced by the league on Monday. This year, the league also announced the first "Commissioner's Level" of recognition, designed to honor the top scholar on each team. That went to junior forward Janelle Ferrara (Winthrop, Mass.), a psychology major. She has been on the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team all three years of her career.

The Bulldogs' 2014-15 All-Academic Team honorees included three seniors: goaltender Jaimie Leonoff (Montréal, Qué.), forward Stephanie Mock (Cape Coral, Fla.) and defenseman Madi Murray (Medicine Hat, Alta.). The senior class combined for 10 All-Academic Team selections during their careers. Leonoff won the award all four years.

Players are eligible for the ECAC Hockey All-Academic team if they have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale or have an average GPA of 3.00 for the past three semesters.

Starting this season, one student-athlete from each men's and women's institution who has attained a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.75 on a 4.00 scale or has an average GPA of 3.75 for the past three semesters will be recognized as a "Commissioner's Level" selection. Ferrara earned that honor for Yale.
