Bulldogs Take Ice Saturday vs McGill

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Meaningful games are returning to Ingalls Rink. The Yale women's hockey team releases its new edition against the McGill Martlets Saturday, October 14, at 2 p.m.

Yale returns to the ice after a 2-0 scrimmage win against ECAC foe Brown last Saturday. Saroya Tinker and Laura Anderson picked up a goal apiece, while the trio of Kyra O'Brien, Tera Hoffman, and Gianna Meloni shut down the Bears. However, the matchup against McGill is the first exhibition game for the 2017-18 Bulldogs under eighth-year head coach Joakim Flygh.

This is not the first time Yale has hosted a Canadian college for a preseason exhibition, and it is also not the first time McGill has visited Ingalls Rink. The Martlets traveled to New Haven last season to take on the Bulldogs in their 18th game against Yale since 1996. Yale took the game by a 1-0 score, with Mallory Souliotis, now a senior with the Bulldogs, scoring the game's only goal. The Martlets went on to finish second in the U SPORTS national championship in the 2016-17 season.

Saturday's exhibition for McGill is its fourth against an NCAA team this season. The Martlets travel to Massachusetts on Friday to take on the Harvard Crimson. McGill is currently 0-2 against NCAA teams with losses at Vermont and St. Lawrence back in September. Jade Downie-Landry leads McGill so far in points with seven goals and two assists in seven games. Goaltender Tricia Deguire, last season's national rookie of the year in Canada, enters the weekend with a 2-4 record in preseason play to go along with a .862 save percentage.
