Career-Weekend Gives Yale's Lead Scorer ECAC Nod
First-year forward Rebecca Vanstone has been firing on all cylinders this season for the Yale women's hockey team. That continued last weekend in Yale's sweep of Brown as she earned ECAC Rookie of the Week honors. The Mississauga, Ontario native collected six points (3G, 3A) in the home-and-home series with the Bears.
Vanstone had a career-night on Fri., Jan. 11, against the Bears. She assisted on Charlotte Welch and Emma Seitz's first period tallies and recorded two, third-period goals to give the Bulldogs extra cushion in the 5-2 victory.
The Bulldogs' lead scorer credits her line's chemistry to her recent success.
"I couldn't have done it without my linemates, Charlotte and Claire. They set me up for some really nice goals. I just had to tap them in," said Vanstone.
Following Friday night's win, the Yale women's hockey team traveled to Brown, where Vanstone added two more points (1G, 1A) to her career-weekend. She helped set up senior defenseman Julia Yetman's goal in the first and buried the puck from just outside the crease late in the second.
In 17 games, Vanstone has a team-high 9 goals and 16 points this season. She looks to add to her hot start in the second half when the Bulldogs visit #6 Clarkson and St. Lawrence this weekend.
