Bulldogs Blank Big Green Again in 1-0 Win
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- With a man-advantage and 2:54 left in overtime, Rebecca Vanstone lifted Yale over Dartmouth 1-0 with her 13th goal this season. Senior goaltender Kyra O'Brien, who entered the game in the second period, stopped all 18 shots to get the victory in net.
"It was an all-around great win for the team. It means a lot to us during senior weekend and gives us momentum heading into tomorrow's game," said Vanstone.
First-year forward Claire Dalton connected with Vanstone on a drop pass, and her classmate buried the puck in the top-right corner. Dalton recorded her team-leading 13th assist on the play.
"I just had to finish this beautiful pass that [Dalton] got into the slot. It was an amazing feed which made my job a lot easier," said Vanstone.
O'Brien took over for Tera Hofmann, who made 7 saves in the first. O'Brien, the Burlington, Ontario, native, was a wall between the pipes, defusing two, Dartmouth fast-break chances.
First-year defenseman Emma Seitz notched her 10th assist on Vanstone's tally.
The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow afternoon in their final contest this season. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. against Harvard. There will be a post-game, on-ice ceremony, celebrating seniors Jordan Chancellor, Emma Vlasic, Kyra O'Brien and Julia Yetman.
