Yale's Denise Soesilo scored her third goal of the season, however the eighth ranked Harvard Crimson scored five unanswered goals over a two-period span to defeat the Bulldogs 5-1 in ECAC action on Saturday at Ingalls Rink.
Soesilo gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage at the 6:42 mark of the first stanza after she collected a loose puck in front of the net and stuffed it past Crimson goaltender Brittany Martin. Kristin Savard and Christina Sharun assisted on the tally.
Yale (4-5 and 3-4 ECAC) was able to maintain the lead into the first intermission after it killed a 5-3 Harvard power play opportunity.
The Crimson (7-1 and 7-1 ECAC) responded and tied the score at one 2:24 into the second period when Caitlin Cahow fired a slap shot past a screened Yale goalie Shivon Zilis. Julie Chu and Sarah Vaillancourt were credited with assists on the goal.
Harvard took a 2-1 lead just over two minutes later when Jenny Brine scored after a scramble in front of the net.
The Crimson capped their scoring with third period goals by Lindsay Weaver, Brine and Chu.
Zilis made 32 saves in net for the Bulldogs, while Martin stopped 22 shots for the Crimson.
Yale will be in action next when it plays at Northeastern on Nov. 25. The puck will drop at 2 p.m.
