Northeastern Visits Ingalls Saturday Afternoon

Jan. 4, 2008

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale and Northeastern met at least once every year from 1993-94 through 2003-04, during which time the Huskies won all 16 games and improved to 18-0 overall against the Bulldogs. Yale head coach Hilary Witt, Northeastern's all-time leading scorer, was a part of eight of those games as a player. But after a break in 2004-05, the Bulldogs turned the tables once the series resumed and have won the last two meetings. Yale looks to continue that streak Saturday at Ingalls (2:00 p.m., free live video on Yale All*Access, audio on WYBC 1340 AM, live stats on Gametracker).

Yale (4-6-4, 3-5-2 ECAC Hockey, 7th) is coming off a runner-up showing at the Nutmeg Classic. The Bulldogs battled Niagara to a 4-4 tie in the opener, rallying from a pair of two-goal deficits. Yale then won a shootout 1-0 on a goal by freshman forward Bray Ketchum (Greenwich, Conn.) to advance to the title game. UConn scored twice in the third period to edge Yale 3-2 for the Classic title.

Northeastern (4-10-1, 3-3-0 Hockey East, t-5th) has won three of its last four games, including a 3-1 win over Boston College in the last game before break (Dec. 8). Forward Nikki Petrich, one of just two seniors on the team, leads the Huskies in goals (nine) and points (15). Freshman goaltender Leah Sulyma has an .884 save percentage and a 3.42 goals-against average.
