Howser, Resor Invited to U.S. National Women's Festival

July 20, 2006

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale sophomores Crysti Howser (Wilmette, Ill.) and Helen Resor (Greenwich, Conn.) have been invited to the U.S. National Women's Festival by USA Hockey. They are part of a group of 40 invitees vying for spots on the roster of the U.S. Under-22 team that will play Canada's Under-22 team in a three-game series in Ottawa, Ontario, August 24-27. The final roster of 20 players will be announced after the festival, which takes place August 15 through August 22 at the Lake Placid Olympic Center.

Howser, a forward, led Yale in scoring last season (12-14-26) despite missing seven games while leading the women's soccer team to an Ivy League championship and the third round of the NCAA College Cup. Her previous USA Hockey experience includes attending the Girls' Select 17/18 Festival last year. The festival featured some of the top young players in the country divided up into eight teams for a five-day tournament. Howser finished tied for the lead in scoring with four goals and three assists for seven points.

Resor, a defenseman, earned a bronze medal at the Olympics with Team USA last February. She also has a gold medal from the 2005 IIHF Women's World Championship and a silver medal from last fall's Four Nations Cup. She is returning to Yale this season after spending last year with the Olympic team.
