NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior defenseman Helen Resor (Greenwich, Conn.) was named to the ECAC Women's Hockey Preseason All-League team on Monday after a vote by the league coaches. Resor, who won a bronze medal with Team USA in the Olympics two years ago, has been a preseason all-league pick twice. ECAC Hockey also released its preseason poll Monday, with the league's coaches tabbing Yale eighth.
Resor enters the 2008-09 season 20th on Yale's career points list (20-34-54), right behind her sister, Jane '01 (25-31-56). She was fourth on the Bulldogs in goals (eight) and points (16) last season.
Resor is joined on the all-league team by Cornell forward Rebecca Johnston, Harvard goaltender Christina Kessler, Dartmouth forward Sarah Parsons, Princeton defenseman Sasha Sherry and Harvard forward Sarah Vaillancourt.
The league's 12 coaches placed Yale eighth in the preseason poll with 50 points, 14 behind seventh-place Colgate. Harvard enters the season as the favorite, with 119 points and 10 first-place votes. St. Lawrence (103 points, two first-place votes) was second.
Yale returns 17 letter winners from last season and has added five freshmen. The Bulldogs open the season Saturday, Oct. 25 at New Hampshire.
The home opener -- the first chance for fans to see the progress on the multi-million dollar renovation to Ingalls Rink -- is Friday, Nov. 7 against St. Lawrence.
