NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Junior defenseman Helen Resor (Greenwich, Conn.) has been named to USA Hockey's 22-player U.S. Women's Select Team that will compete in the Women's Four Nations Cup in Leksand, Sweden, from Nov. 7-11. Resor is one of eight players with Olympic experience on the U.S. roster. This will be her third Four Nations Cup appearance.
Resor, a second team All-ECAC selection for Yale last season, had five goals and 15 assists in 24 games. She was third among ECAC defensemen in points per game (0.83).
Resor has the most international experience of any Bulldog, having become the first Yale player to make an Olympic team roster when she was named to Team USA for the 2006 Torino games. She has also participated in the last two IIHF World Championships, earning a gold medal in 2005 and a silver medal this past spring. She has a pair of silver medals from her two previous Four Nations Cup appearances. She has scored one goal and had one assist in eight Four Nations Cup games
The United States has earned either the gold or silver medal in each of the 10 years it has competed in the Four Nations Cup (Three Nations Cup from 1996-99), including silver medals in the last three years (2004-06). The tournament includes Canada, Finland and Sweden.
Yale hosts McGill in a preseason scrimmage this Sunday, then opens the regular season at RPI on Oct. 26.
