LEKSAND, Sweden - Junior defenseman Helen Resor (Greenwich, Conn.) picked up one assist as Team USA opened play at the Four Nations Cup with a 4-0 win over Sweden in Leksand Wednesday.
Resor had her helper on Sarah Parsons' power-play goal with eight minutes left. Karen Thatcher, Erica McKenzie and Meghan Fardelmann also scored for the U.S.
Resor has the most international experience of any Bulldog, having become the first Yale player to make an Olympic team roster when she was named to Team USA for the 2006 Torino games. She has also participated in the last two IIHF World Championships, earning a gold medal in 2005 and a silver medal this past spring. She has a pair of silver medals from her two previous Four Nations Cup appearances.
The U.S. plays Canada Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Eastern time. Team Canada beat Finland 4-1 on Wednesday.
