Nov. 26, 2007

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior Shivon Zilis (Markham, Ont.) helped Yale earn a tie with Boston College on Saturday with a 43-save effort; on Monday that same effort earned Zilis ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week honors.

Zilis stopped 43 of 45 shots against the Eagles to help Yale pull out a 2-2 tie. She made 13 saves in each of the first three periods, then had four in overtime to finish off her busy day. She made 15 saves with BC on the power play, and only allowed one even-strength goal.

Zilis is currently 5th in the country in save percentage (.937) and 10th in goals-against average (1.92). She posted the fifth-best save percentage (.908) and fifth-best goals-against average (2.69) in Yale history last season.

Zilis is the third Bulldog to earn a weekly honor from ECAC Hockey this season. Freshman forward Bray Ketchum (Greenwich, Conn.) and freshman goalkeeper Jackee Snikeris (Downingtown, Pa.) have each been ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week.
