Quackenbush Honored by womenslacrosse.com
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Goalkeeper Whitney Quackenbush (Manhasset, N.Y.) was selected to the womenslacrosse.com national honor roll Wednesday for her work last week. The sophomore made 28 saves for the week, including a career-high 16 in the 11-9 upset at No. 13 BU Wednesday. That was the most saves in a game by a Yale goalie since Amanda Laws ’03 also stopped 16 in a win over Vanderbilt seven years ago. Quackenbush’s work helped the Bulldogs beat BU despite being outshot 37-15. She added 12 stops Saturday at Dartmouth, giving her a .571 save percentage for the week.
Quackenbush is coming off an honorable mention All-Ivy League campaign. Her .492 save percentage last year placed her second in the league in that category and marked just the third time in the last 20 years Yale had a freshman goalie register a save percentage that high. Quackenbush was also third in the league in goals-against average (9.17) and saves (126).
