  • Younger Bulldogs Shine in 18-7 Win vs. Quinnipiac

    Through the falling snowflakes at Reese Stadium Wednesday night, Yale women’s lacrosse fans got a glimpse of the team’s bright future in the home opener. The team’s 18-7 win vs. local rival Quinnipiac was powered largely by first-years and sophomores, as those two classes accounted for 17 of the team’s 18 goals. First-year midfielder Jill Gollob led the way with five goals.

    A late rally by Albany spoiled the 2019 season opener for the Yale women’s lacrosse team Saturday at Casey Stadium, as the Great Danes scored the game’s final four goals for a 15-13 win.

    The Yale women’s lacrosse team opens its 44th varsity season Saturday, traveling to Albany to take on the Great Danes (12:00 p.m., AmericaEast.tv). A year ago the Bulldogs opened the season with a 12-10 win vs. Albany at Reese Stadium.

    The Yale women’s lacrosse team will be relatively young in 2019 -- there are only three seniors on the roster. And as the Bulldogs seek to replace nine starters from last year’s team, they will certainly need some new names to emerge as impact players. A talented core of returnees led by senior attacker Izzy Nixon (Greenwich, Conn.) -- the team captain and holder of the school record for draw controls -- gives the team reason for optimism heading into its 44th varsity season.

  • Hulseman Picked Eighth in WPLL Fall Draft

    Yale women’s lacrosse assistant coach Molly Hulseman will have the chance to compete against some of the best players in the nation next summer, as she was recently selected eighth in the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League Fall Draft. Hulseman was drafted by the Upstate Pride on Oct. 30.

    The Yale women's lacrosse team welcomes 11 first years to the roster for 2018-19. The Class of 2022 represents seven different states and includes four midfielders, two attackers, one defender, one defender/midfielder, one midfielder/attacker, one midfielder/defender and one goalkeeper.

    With a core group of returnees that includes five of the team’s top six scorers from 2018, the Yale women’s lacrosse team looks to make the 2019 season a memorable one. One of the first steps in that process was choosing a captain, and the Bulldogs have picked one of the top returning scorers to lead them -- attacker Izzy Nixon (Greenwich, Conn.). She was selected by a team vote shortly after the conclusion of the 2018 season.
