NEW HAVEN, Conn. – An 8-6 lead early in the second half slipped away from the Yale women's lacrosse team Saturday afternoon at Brown, as the Bears utilized an 8-1 run over a span of less than 15 minutes to seize momentum. The Bulldogs scored the final two goals of the game but got no closer, falling 14-11.

Both offenses were clicking in the early going Saturday, as the teams combined for nine goals in the first 16 minutes. With four of those coming from sophomore midfielder Olivia Markert, Yale (4-3, 0-2 Ivy League) took an early 5-4 lead, then extended it to 6-4 on a tally by first-year attacker Rachel Anderson at 7:24.

After Brown (3-4, 1-1 Ivy League) tied the game 6-6, first-year midfielder Jill Gollob put Yale up 7-6 heading into halftime. She also scored the first goal of the second half, extending the lead to two. But the Bulldogs scored just once in the next 26:22. Powered by four goals in 11 minutes from attacker Risa Mosenthal, the Bears grabbed a commanding 14-9 lead. Late tallies by first-year attacker Olivia Penoyer and Gollob made the final 14-11.

Markert finished with four goals and four assists, while Anderson and Gollob had hat tricks. Penoyer had a goal and three assists and sophomore attacker Isabelle Webster had an assist. Senior attacker Izzy Nixon had 13 draw controls and junior defender Margaret Stover had three caused turnovers.

Sophomore goalkeeper Amelia Drake made five saves in 43:38, while first-year keeper Clare Boone made one stop.

Yale returns to action Sunday, Mar. 24, at Harvard.
