NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 1 Yale women's sailing team will travel to Providence, R.I., this weekend for the Dellenbaugh Trophy hosted by Brown University. The team is undefeated so far this season and is looking to keep that winning streak alive.
Cold temperatures, strong northeasterly winds and rain are in the forecast for the weekend so the Bulldogs won't be packing light. They will, however, enjoy breaks between races unlike at most of their recent regattas. The regatta will be sailed in Brown's single fleet of 420s, so A and B division will trade off time on the water.
Mostly familiar faces will represent the Bulldogs at this weekend's event. Junior Morgan Kiss and senior Amanda Salvesen will compete in A division after dominating A division at the regatta in Charleston last weekend. Seniors Marlena Fauer and Eugenia Custo Greig raced at a coed team racing regatta last weekend, but are returning to sail B division for the women's team this weekend. In addition, freshman crew Natalya Doris will travel with the team to provide fresh legs for hiking when the breeze comes up as forecasted.
