NEW HAVEN, Conn. - This weekend the No. 1 Yale women's sailing team will travel to Harvard to compete in the Urn, the fall qualifier for the Atlantic Coast Championship. The top eight teams will be advance to the fall Championship held at Connecticut College in two weekends.
With strong scores throughout the season, the Bulldogs have high confidence going into this event. Senior skipper Casey Klingler will return to the women’s circuit, skippering A division along with first-year crew Claudia Loiacono. Sophomore skipper Louisa Nordstrom will sail with senior crew KB Knapp and senior crew Claire Huebner in B division. Chrissie Klingler will also be prepared to sail.
The conditions look fantastic for this weekend, with a strong southerly both days on the Charles. Conditions for Saturday look champagne, with a building breeze of 5 to 8 mph with puffs in the low teens. Sunday’s forecast calls for big breeze, with steady winds of 15 mph with puffs in the low 30s. It is very likely that Claire Huebner will help the Bulldogs power through these high winds.
Racing will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and racing can followed at http://scores.collegesailing.
