Yesterday, the NEISA Awards Committee announced the 2018 Coed and Women's sailor of the Year, Babineau Crew of the Year, and Women's Crew of the Year watch lists.
The Women's Sailor of the year annually honors the best skipper in the conference. The Women's Crew of the year honors the best crew in women's New England sailing.
Based on the fall regatta record of each candidate, honorees are selected by the NEISA Awards Committee. They look at several factors of each sailor, including how the record compares to other competitors, the quality of competition in which the record was achieved, the results achieved competing with different skippers and crews, and how that record compares to All-NEISA sailors in previous years.
After having an extremely successful fall winning both the Women's New England Fall Champs and the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship, senior skipper Casey Klingler and sophomore skipper Louisa Nordstrom were named to the shortlist of 6 sailors for the women's sailor of the year watch list.
Although this is a tremendous accomplishment for the Bulldogs, there is still much spring racing to be done. It is also important to note that these lists often overlook essential teammates that may be less in the spotlight but were crucial to the Bulldog's success this season and in past years.
