NEW HAVEN, CONN. – Although seven weekends of competition are in the books, the Bulldogs still have a long journey ahead of them. Just past the midpoint of the spring season, the sailors are continuing their drive and the final push that needs to be made in order to solidify a berth at nationals.
With many successful weekends behind them, the Bulldogs have worked hard to stand where they are at this point in the season, being ranked #1 in both the women's and coed rankings by US Sailing.
This weekend of competition will allow the Bulldogs to show their depth in the women's team. While normal starters senior skipper Casey Klingler and sophomore skipper Louisa Nordstrom will be competing on the coed circuit, underclassman skippers sophomore Chrissie Klingler and first-year Eme Wallace will be stepping in to show their talent on the women's circuit.
The President's Trophy will be hosted by Boston University on the Charles. After many weeks of freezing temperatures, the Bulldogs will be greeted with amazing weather with temps in the 70s and winds out of the south switching to northeast later in the day at 6-12 mph with puffs in the 20s. Sunday will have perfect Charles conditions, with a northeast breeze at 12-25 mph. Sailing for the bulldogs in A division will be sophomore Chrissie Klingler with first-year crew Cate Mollerus. In B division first-year skipper Eme Wallace will be sailing with first year crew Katie Wells. Both Wallace and Wells will be making their debut on the women's circuit.
Racing will begin at 9:30 a.m. and can be followed live at http://scores.collegesailing.org/.
