NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bulldogs dominated at the home regatta this weekend, winning the competition with 78 points and a 16 point separation from the second place competitors. 10 races in each division were completed in Yale's 420 and FJ fleets on Saturday, with no racing on Sunday.

Junior skipper Louisa Nordstrom placed 3rd in A division with 51 points. Nordstrom, along with sophmore crews Claudia Loiacono and Katie Clulo, consistently placed in the top five in her division and would likely have won if not for an early race where she and Clulo sailed an incorrect course." Junior skipper Chrissie Klingler won her division with a stunningly low 27 points with senior crew Kira Woods and sophmore crew Cate MollerusKlinger's prowess in heavy wind led to four bullets across the 10 races and only one race outside of the top five (a sixth). This weekend in an indication of the hard work of the Yale sailors and coaches this season.

The northeast experienced a recent trend of heavy wind, and the Long Island Sound this weekend was no exception. A southwest breeze that consistently blew 15 knots was complimented by enormous swells to create a challenging set of conditions for the sailors. The Bulldogs were able to capitalize on their experience with volatile wind as the breeze shifted west and lessened throughout the day. Sunday's conditions were deemed too dangerous for sailing, with a steady 30 knot breeze that crescendoed to whopping 40 knot gusts at times.

Yale would like to thank our incredible alumni Meredith Kilion, Marly Isler, Casey Klingler, and Chris Champa for assisting as race committee and jury members throughout the weekend. We love all of our Bulldog alumni supporters!

This weekend's win has bolstered the team's standing within NEISA, and the sailors are looking forward to the final women's regatta of the season next weekend.
