No. 4 Bulldogs Open Intersectional Competition at Dartmouth

Sept. 18, 2008

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 4 Bulldog women's sailing team will open intersectional competition at the Mrs. Hurst Bowl on Saturday and Sunday at Dartmouth. The Bulldogs, who began in-district competition with two one-day regattas on Sept. 13-14, will hope to build upon their second place performance at the regatta in 2007.

In 2007, senior captain Kate Hagemann and sophomore Elizabeth Brim won B Division with 41 points over 11 races. The duo won three races and placed second in a further three races in the 18 team regatta.

In A Division, senior Jane Macky and junior Marla Menninger placed eighth with 88 points. Macky and Menninger won the final race of the regatta.

The event will take place on Lake Mascoma in FJs. Lake Mascoma, like many lake venues, is known for shifty, puffy winds. These conditions should bode well for the Bulldogs, who won the Man-Labs Trophy and placed third at the Captain's Cup on Sept. 13-14 in a similar mix of conditions.
