No. 5 Bulldogs Host Yale Women's Intersectional

Oct. 16, 2008

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 5 Bulldog women's sailing team will host the Yale Women's Intersectional on Saturday and Sunday at the McNay Family Sailing Center. The event will feature strong competition for the Bulldogs, who placed eighth at the regatta in 2007.

After coming off a win at the competitive Navy Women's Fall Intersectional, the team will again seek to defeat strong competition. Thirteen of the top 15 ranked teams in women's college sailing will be in attendance at the event, including nine of the top 10.

Sailing at the McNay Family Sailing Center should give the Bulldogs an advantage. The site is one of only a few venues in the country that features open water and strong wind and waves, so the Bulldogs are well suited to sailing if the conditions get breezy and wavy.

In 2007, the Bulldogs placed eighth at the event. Senior captain Kate Hagemann and sophomore crew Elizabeth Brim placed fifth in A Division while junior Rebecca Jackson placed 13th in B Division.

The skipper's meeting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. with racing beginning shortly after in Long Island Sound.
