REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Saturday: This morning the sailors were greeted with sunny skies and warm temperatures, but
very little wind. We postponed ashore until 11:30 when the seabreeze started to fill in from
the SSE. The first few races were sailed in 5-8 knots from the SSE with a very weak flood
current. The breeze increased to 10-15 and shifted right to SSW, flood current increased. We
completed 8A and 6B races for the day, all courses were W4 or W5 with downwind gates. One
protest was filed and will be heard tomorrow.
Sunday: This morning was much the same as yesterday. The light morning westerly died before we were able to leave the dock, so we postponed ashore. Around 11 the breeze shifted to the south and began to fill in. B division started the day and sailed their first race (7B) in a very light southerly with strong ebb (southerly) current, making for some long downwind legs. The wind was more solid for 8B and steadily increased to 12-15 by the final races. The current switch to full flood by the end of the day, making for some dynamic racing. 13 races were completed in each division, all courses were W3, W4 and W5. One protest was filed and was disallowed.
Thanks to all of the Cougars for running a great event and the coaches who helped out with repairs and protest hearings. Congrats to Charleston 1.

SailGroove was out filming all weekend - check out the footage at www.sailgroove.org.
