Yale Seeks First Road Win
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The road has not been kind to the Yale women's soccer team so far in 2010. The Bulldogs are still searching for their first victory away from the friendly confines of Reese Stadium. They'll try to get it when they play a non-league game at Saint Peter's on Tuesday. Kickoff at Cochrane Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
With a crucial Ivy League game at Dartmouth on the horizon Saturday, a victory over the Peahens would give Yale a confidence boost. The Bulldogs (3-6-1, 0-2 Ivy) have little margin for error in Ivy games after dropping one-goal decisions to Princeton and Harvard.
Becky Brown was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday. Brown, who leads the team in goals (3) and points (7), scored twice in last Tuesday's 3-2 victory over Marist and had a team-high five shots against Harvard. Ayana Sumiyasu, who has started nine games in goal, leads the Ivy League with 51 saves.
Saint Peter's (3-8) is playing its third straight home game. Emily Fenice leads the team with four goals. Caitlin Hoffer (1.80 goals against average) and Erin Ronan (1.84) have split the goalkeeping duties.
Yale and Saint Peter's are playing for the first time.
