Bulldogs Open Season By Hosting Yale Soccer Classic On Sept. 2, 4
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Ten home dates highlight the 2011 Yale women's soccer schedule. Twelve of the 17 games will come against opponents that finished .500 or better last year, including a pair of NCAA College Cup participants – America East champion Boston University and Ivy League champion Penn.
The Bulldogs kick off the season on Sept. 2 by hosting Marist on the opening day of the Yale Soccer Classic. Central Connecticut and Providence meet in the first game at 5 p.m. On Sept. 4, Yale meets Providence at 2:30 p.m. following the Central Connecticut-Marist game at noon.
The first of seven road games takes the Bulldogs to Rutgers on Sept. 9. Yale also has non-league road games against St. John's (Sept. 11) and Boston University (Sept. 18). BU went 16-6 last year and fell to Boston College in the College Cup.
Four of Yale's seven Ivy League games will be in the friendly confines of Reese Stadium, starting with an Oct. 1 matchup with Harvard. The Bulldogs' first Ivy game is at Princeton on Sept. 24.
Senior Day at Reese will come in the regular season finale on Nov. 5 against Brown at 3 p.m.
Twelve letterwinners and eight starters return from last year's team that finished 8-8-1 overall. The Bulldogs have finished .500 or better in each of the last nine years.
