Bulldogs Seek Second Straight Win Over Big Red

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's soccer team completes a three-game road stretch with a long trip to Cornell on Saturday. The Bulldogs and Big Red meet at 4 p.m. at Berman Field.

If recent history is any indication, the game figures to be close. In each of the last three years, the outcome has been decided by one goal. Last year in New Haven, Enma Mullo '12 scored nearly eight minutes into overtime to lift Yale to a 2-1 victory.

The Bulldogs (5-6, 0-3 Ivy) haven't fared as well in close games this year. Four of the six losses have come by one goal, including three in overtime.

Kristen Forster, who was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday, leads the team with six goals and 15 points. Muriel Battaglia has three goals, while Melissa Gavin has contributed eight points.

Cornell (1-10-1, 0-2-1 Ivy) features the reigning Ivy League Player of the Week in Maneesha Chitanvis, who scored two goals and added an assist in a win over Lafayette and a tie with Harvard. Chitanvis and Xandra Hompe share the team lead with 10 points apiece.

Yale will finally return to the friendly confines of Reese Stadium on Oct. 20, hosting Penn at 5:30 p.m.
