Off the Field: Spent 10 weeks as a molecular biology researcher on serotonin neurons at the Yale School of Medicine on a Yale research fellowship (summer 2013)... Volunteer at Yale-New Haven as a patient ambassador (summer 2013)... Shadowed an orthopedic trauma surgeon during clinic hours at Yale-New Haven Hospital (summer 2013)... Working as a research intern with Yale School of Medicine, Dept. of Cell Biology, Yale Program in Cellular Neuroscience, Neurodegeneration, and Repair, Lab of Dr. Daniel Colón-Ramos, focused on the development and plasticity of the main serotonergic neuron of C. elegans, mapped two synapse mutant alleles using SNP mapping techniques and investigated how the formation of the branches of the neuron responded to exogenous serotonin (summer 2012-present)… Shadowing Dr. Michael Baumgaertner during clinic in the Yale Physician’s Building on a weekly basis and in the operating room at Yale-New Haven Hospital on a monthly basis (2012-present)…Work at HAVEN Free Clinic, Research Department to perform reviews to ensure that patients receive quality care at this Fair Haven-based student-run primary care clinic (2013-present)…Work as Usher at Yale School of Music (2012-present)…Worked as a lab associate in NYU School of Medicine, Dept. of Microbiology, Lab of Dr. Naoko Tanese, learned fundamental techniques in molecular biology and used recombinant DNA technology to sub-clone DNA and performed analysis of nucleic acids (winter 2011)...Worked as a lab associate at Baylor College of Medicine, Laboratory of Perception and Action, Lab of Dr. David Eagleman, conducted research on neurological condition of synesthesia for three-year high school science course with Dr. Eagleman as a mentor, programmed computer psychology experiment using Matlab, spent 2 weeks in Texas running experiment and collecting data (2007-2010)… Studied in Japan at Princeton in Ishikawa on Japanese intensive language and cultural program, completed second-year Yale language course requirement (summer 2011)… Awarded Yale College Dean’s Research Fellowship Funding for original undergraduate research in the natural sciences under supervision of Yale faculty member; used for research in Colón-Ramos lab (summer 2012) and Richard U.
