Seven Home Games Highlight 2013 Schedule

Bulldogs Kick Off Season Sept. 6 Against Stony Brook

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – It won't take long for Yale women's soccer coach Rudy Meredith to get a gauge of his 2013 squad. Two of the Bulldogs' first three opponents made the NCAA Tournament last year. The 17-game schedule kicks off with a home game against Stony Brook on Sept. 6. In all, the Bulldogs will play seven games in the friendly confines of Reese Stadium, where they went 6-2-1 last year.

Here is a closer look at the 2013 schedule:

Fri., Sept. 6       STONY BROOK           7 p.m.

Note: Seawolves won America East Tournament last year, lost to Maryland 2-0 in first round of NCAA Tournament. One of 12 victories came over Yale on Long Island.

Sun., Sept. 8     at UMass-Lowell        2 p.m.

Note: River Hawks in their first year at Division I level. Game with Yale will be their first Division I home game.

Fri., Sept. 13     at Georgetown           3 p.m.

Note: Bulldogs face the Hoyas for the first time since 2003. Georgetown won a school-record 16 games last fall and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Sun., Sept. 15    at Towson                   1 p.m.

Note: First meeting between the teams.

Wed., Sept. 18   HARTFORD                 7 p.m.

Note: Bulldogs have won five straight over the Hawks after losing the first 16 games between the teams.

Fri., Sept. 20      SACRED HEART           7 p.m.

Note: Bulldogs one of four Ivy League opponents for Sacred Heart.

Sun., Sept. 22     at Fairfield                 2 p.m.

Note: Bulldogs have outscored Stags 13-1 in the last six meetings.

Sat., Sept. 28      at Princeton               4 p.m.

Note: Tigers won Ivy League title last fall with 7-0 record and reached second round of NCAA Tournament.

Sat. Oct. 5          HARVARD                     4 p.m.

Note: Yale has dropped four straight to the Crimson, three of which have been by one goal.

Mon., Oct. 7        at Central Connecticut  7 p.m.

Note: Bulldogs are 14-0 all-time against the Blue Devils.

Sat., Oct. 12       DARTMOUTH                 4 p.m.

Note: Big Green preparation for 2013 included 10-day trip to London, Scotland in June.

Mon., Oct. 14      at Marist                        7 p.m.

Note: Marist junior Amanda Epstein finished seventh in the nation with six game-winning goals last fall.  

Sat., Oct. 19        Cornell                          6:30 p.m.

Note: Bulldogs have won the last five games against Cornell in Reese Stadium.

Sat., Oct. 26        at Penn                          5 p.m.

Note: Quakers are 14-4-3 in Ivy League play over the last three years.

Sat., Nov. 2        at Columbia                     7 p.m.

Note: Last two meetings between the teams have ended in a tie.

Fri., Nov. 8         BROWN                           7 p.m.

Note:  Last home game for Yale's five seniors, who will be honored prior to kick off.

Sun., Nov. 10     at Brown                         1 p.m.

Note: Teams conclude the regular season with a game that won't count in the Ivy League standings.
