Seven Newcomers Set To Join Bulldogs
Six Freshmen, One Transfer Added To Roster
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale women's soccer coach Rudy Meredith will welcome seven newcomers to the roster this fall. Six freshmen, representing five states, and one transfer are heading to New Haven.
Here is a closer look at the newcomers:
Fairview High School
Before Yale: All-state, all-region and all-conference selection at Fairview High School… Team captain and team most valuable player as a senior… Helped lead Fairview to 5A state final as a junior… Named to all-state academic first team… Played club soccer for FC Boulder, which was ranked first in Colorado.
Personal: Volunteered at Boulder homeless shelter… Spent time in Costa Rica in a Soccer and Service program, mentoring kids in soccer while renovating a local rural school.
Why Yale? "Yale became my first choice the minute I stepped on campus. I loved the strong sense of tradition and community. I am so excited to spend the next four years in an environment that will nurture both my love of soccer and learning."
La Jolla, Calif.
The Bishop's School
Before Yale: Coastal League Player of the Year as a senior at The Bishop's School… Led the league in scoring… Led team in scoring as a junior and senior… Three-time first team all-league selection… Four-year starter for the varsity… Team captain as a senior… Helped lead Bishop's to the CIF Division IV championship as a senior… Team won four league titles during her career… Recipient of The Bishop's School Jerry Coleman Athletic Leadership Award and Knight of the Round Table medal… Played club soccer for Albion SC... Team captain… Played for CalSouth ODP team, which won regional titles in the winter of 2011 and 2012.
Personal: Great uncle played for Inter Milan in Italy… Uncle played college soccer at UCLA.
Why Yale? "When I was looking at schools, I knew I wanted a place where I would be challenged academically, socially and athletically. When I visited Yale for the first time, I knew that this was what I was looking for."
San Diego, Calif.
Torrey Pines High School
Before Yale: Helped lead Torrey Pines High School to a pair of CIF semi-final appearances… Named team most valuable player… Played club soccer for the San Diego Surf and Albion SC.
Personal: Executive Director of non-profit Students to Soldiers… Kids Korp America volunteer… Mother played softball, basketball and swam in college and swam at the Olympic Trials.
Why Yale? "After my first trip to Yale, I physically could not stop smiling for a month."
New Hope, Pa.
Council Rock North High School
Before Yale: Third team all-state selection at Council Rock North High School… Helped Council Rock to league title and second-place district finish… Played club soccer for FC Delco, the 2010 U.S. Club Soccer national champion… Helped FC Delco to the 2011 State Cup championship… Team captain since 2009.
Personal: Fluent in German… Coached youth soccer.

Jericho High School
East Meadow ECNL United
Before Yale: All-state, All-Long Island and all-county selection at Jericho High School… Played club soccer for East Meadow ECNL United, the 2011 Eastern New York state champions… Member of East Meadow since 2007… Attended Super Y League 2009 ODP National Camp in Tampa, Fla.
Personal: North Shore LIJ Hospital volunteer… HorseAbility volunteer… Club teammate Taylor Wright plays at Cornell.

The Pingry School
Before Yale: Earned all-state recognition as a senior at The Pingry School… Three-time all-area and two-time all-conference selection… Helped Pingry to two state sectional and non public A titles… Four-year starter… Team captain as a senior… Played club soccer for PDA… Played on four State Cup winners… Five-time participant in the regional tournament, including three final appearances… Member of 06/07 NJ ODP team.
Personal: One of eight students selected to participate in the SMART team program, involving scientific research projects… Selected as Blue Key member (school service organization)… Volunteers at Cancer Support Community.

Nobles & Greenough
Notes: Transfer from Georgetown… Appeared in five games and scored one goal for the Hoyas in 2012.
Before College: Captained Nobles & Greenough to an ISL championship… First team all-state and all-league selection as a senior… Played club soccer for the Stars of Mass., one of the leading clubs in the nation… Helped Stars to a No. 3 national ranking in 2011 and three state championships.
