Hagopian Named Ivy League Player Of Week
Scores Game-Winning Goal In Overtime Against Princeton
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Paula Hagopian has made a habit of scoring big goals this season for the Yale women's soccer team. She struck again Saturday, notching the game-winner in overtime as the Bulldogs knocked of defending Ivy League champion Princeton 3-2. For that effort, she has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week.
Hagopian, who also scored the game-winner in overtime against Towson earlier this month, had a hand in all three of Yale's goal in Saturday's victory. She set up the first goal by sending a cross from the end line that was headed in by Meredith Speck. Hagopian also assisted on Melissa Gavin's goal in the 75th minute that tied the score at 2-2 and led to overtime.
Hagopian is a West Hartford, Conn.,native.
This is the second Ivy honor for Hagopian, who was selected as the Rookie of the Week last fall.
For the season, Hagopian is tied for second on the team with six points.
The Bulldogs (5-3, 1-0 Ivy) are back in action on Saturday when they host Harvard at 4 p.m. at Reese Stadium.
