  • Valade Collins ‘92 Inducted Into Connecticut Soccer Hall Of Fame

    Laura Valade Collins, who earned Ivy League Player of the Year honors as a member of the Yale women’s soccer team in 1991, has been inducted into the Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame. The ceremony was Saturday at the Cromwell Plaza.
  • Alozie, Coy, Griff Earn All-New England Honors

    Three Yale women’s soccer players have earned All-New England recognition. Freshman midfielder Sofia Griff, freshman forward Michelle Alozie and sophomore defender Hannah Coy each were named to the second team.
  • McCormack Elected 2016-17 Captain; Team Awards Announced

    Colleen McCormack has had a number of leadership roles during her time at Yale. She serves as the Vice President of the Branford College Council and has been active in Athletes in Action, a Christian fellowship for athletes at Yale. Recently, she was awarded another responsibility – captain of the 2016-17 Yale women’s soccer team.
  • Three Bulldogs Earn All-Ivy Recognition

    The future is bright for the Yale women’s soccer team, at least based on the 2015 All-Ivy results. The Bulldogs had three players recognized – one sophomore and two freshmen. Freshman Midfielder Sofia Griff was named to the second team, while freshman forward Michelle Alozie and sophomore defender Hannah Coy earned honorable mention recognition.

    It was an all too familiar story for the Yale women’s soccer team Saturday at Reese Stadium. The Bulldogs played well for long stretches but yielded two early goals, couldn’t quite recover and fell to Brown 2-1 on Senior Day.

    Halloween was no treat for the Yale women’s soccer team. Columbia’s Emma Anderson scored her second goal of the game with 5:02 left in the second overtime period to lift the Lions to a 2-1 victory at Rocco B. Commisso Stadium.
  • Bulldogs Seek Halloween Treat At Columbia

    The Yale women’s soccer team hasn’t played an Ivy League game on Halloween since 1998, a 2-0 victory at Penn. That changes on Saturday when the Bulldogs travel to Columbia. They’ll be looking for a similar treat. Kickoff at Rocco B. Commisso Stadium is slated for 4 p.m.
  • Alozie Scores Sixth Goal But Bulldogs Fall At Penn

    The first half has not been kind to the Yale women’s soccer team so far in Ivy League play. That was on display again on Saturday when Penn scored a pair of early goals and then hung on for a 2-1 victory over the Bulldogs at Rhodes Field.

    One week after squaring off against the nation’s stingiest defense, the Bulldogs face another strong defensive team when they travel to Penn on Saturday. The Quakers have yielded only nine goals in 13 games. Kickoff at Rhodes Field is slated for 5 p.m.
  • Early Goals Lift Central Connecticut Past Yale

    Yale carried the play for long stretches Monday against Central Connecticut, but a 2 minute, 20 second stretch doomed the Bulldogs. Delaney Lancor scored twice in that span, and the Blue Devils withstood a furious Yale attack to escape with a 2-0 victory on a cold night at Reese Stadium.

    Cornell’s defense was as good as advertised. The Big Red entered Saturday’s game with Yale leading the nation in goals against average, having yielded just three goals all season. The numbers are now just a little better. Elizabeth Crowell scored at 26:34 and Cornell made it hold up in earning a 1-0 victory over the Bulldogs on a chilly afternoon at Reese Stadium.

    All four of Yale’s victories this season have come by shutout. The Bulldogs will certainly need to be on their defensive game on Saturday because Cornell isn’t likely to yield many goals. The Big Red has allowed just three in 11 games. Kickoff at Reese Stadium is slated for 4 p.m. following the Yale-Cornell men’s game which starts at 1 p.m.
  • Cavallo Earns Ivy League Honor

    Yale was very much in need of a goal Saturday against Dartmouth. Freshman Keri Cavallo was happy to oblige. Cavallo scored early in the second half as the Bulldogs, who had been shutout in their first two Ivy games, earned an important 1-0 victory over Dartmouth at Reese Stadium. For her efforts, Cavallo was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week. She shared the honor with Princeton’s Mimi Asom.
  • Meredith Earns 200th Victory As Bulldogs Blank Dartmouth 1-0

    The formula for success for the Yale women’s soccer team in 2015 is becoming clear. Play steady defense, and the result will likely be positive. That’s what did the Bulldogs did Saturday against Dartmouth, and they came away with a 1-0 victory on a gorgeous fall evening at Reese Stadium.

    The Yale women’s soccer team walked off the Burnham Field pitch a frustrated bunch last fall. The Bulldogs had earned a scoreless tie with Dartmouth but felt they deserved more. There was a questionable no goal call when it appeared a deflection had crossed the goal line off a Yale corner kick, and later the Bulldogs missed on a penalty kick.
  • Fast Start Lifts Harvard Over Yale

    Harvard used a very fast start to earn an important Ivy League victory over Yale. The Crimson scored three goals in the first 5 minutes, 11 seconds en route to a 4-0 victory on a chilly afternoon at Reese Stadium.

    Princeton features two of the most dynamic offensive threats in the Ivy League in Tyler Lussi and Mimi Asom. Yale held the two in check for 45 minutes but eventually the duo weaved their magic.

    With a young but talented team, Yale women’s soccer coach Rudy Meredith put together a schedule this fall that he hoped would be a challenge but also provide opportunities to learn and gain confidence. It would appear he was successful as the Bulldogs stand at 3-3-2 heading into Ivy League play. They’ll have a better idea after playing their league opener Saturday at Princeton.     A slightly shorthanded Yale women’s soccer team turned in a solid effort in its final test before the start of Ivy League play. The Bulldogs had a pretty big edge in most of the statistical categories but were forced to settle for a 1-1 tie with Stony Brook on a gorgeous afternoon at LaValle Stadium.

  • Alozie Earns Second Straight Ivy League Rookie Of Week Honor

    Freshman Michelle Alozie did something last week that hadn’t been done by a Yale women’s soccer player in six years. She scored three goals against Sacred Heart, the first hat trick by a Bulldog since Becky Brown in 2009. That performance helped Alozie earn Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors for the second straight week.

    Villanova’s Higgins Soccer Complex will always hold a special place in Rudy Meredith’s heart. It was there, Meredith guided the Bulldogs to their first NCAA Tournament victory back in 2002. His return visit Friday turned out ok as well.
