Yale's Eight Seniors Honored Prior To Kickoff
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Columbia got goals early in both halves en route to a 2-0 victory over Yale on a rainy and windy afternoon at Reese Stadium.
The Bulldogs were playing their final home game of the season, and prior to kickoff seniors Michelle Alozie, Keri Cavallo, Sofia Griff, Maritza Grillo, Mackenzie Marsh, Fallon Sheridan, Brittany Simpson and Fran Steele and their families were honored for their outstanding contributions to the Yale women's soccer program.
Grillo drew the start in goal and made two early big saves. Columbia, though, jumped in front at 7:59 when Jessica Schildkraut fired a shot in from the top of the box.
It stayed 1-0 until early in the second half when Amaris Hemmings scored.
Columbia then locked down the Bulldogs the rest of the way to post the shutout.
Yale closes out the season next Saturday at Brown.
