Bulldogs Fail to Score Against Bears

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In a matter of ten minutes, a 0–0 draw turned into a 3–0 defeat for Yale in its final game of the 2018 season. A relentless Brown attack finally broke through against the Elis in the 53rd minute when Jennifer Caruso found the back of the net off of a blocked-shot loose ball in the box, and the Bulldogs could not regain their footing.

Yale (7-9-1, 1-6-0 Ivy) did well in the first half to match Brown's offense as both sides recorded three shots on goal. Goalkeeper Alyssa Fagel managed to save Brown's three attempts to keep the score tied at halftime.

In the second half, however, the Bears (8-8-1, 3-4-0 Ivy) seemed to control the game as they recorded 10 shots to Yale's zero. Following Caruso's tally, Ivy League points leader Abby Carchio and Charlotte Devaughn scored off of set pieces to put the game away for the Bears. Carchio contributed to all three of her team's goals with one goal and two assists.

Yale finishes just below .500 after eclipsing the mark a season ago. A number of injuries to key contributors hampered the Bulldogs this year, but they return All-Ivy talents such as Aerial Chavarin and Noelle Higginson for the 2019 campaign.
