NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Christina Huang scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute as Yale blanked Sacred Heart 1-0 at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium. Huang settled a pass from Mimi Macauley and blasted a shot past Sacred Heart goalkeeper Ashley Mocarski from 25 yards out. Sarah Walker made four saves to post the shutout in goal for the Bulldogs, who improved to 3-0.
Yale controlled play for much of the game, outshooting the Pioneers 24-7. Mocarski, though, was outstanding in goal. She made 11 saves, including a diving stop on Macauley's penalty kick in the 49th minute. The Bulldogs also had three shots bang off the post or crossbar.
"We created a lot of scoring chances, and that's a good thing," said Yale head coach Rudy Meredith. "Eventually, they are going to go in."
The Bulldogs have now posted two straight shutouts and have not allowed a goal since the first half of the UMass game on Sept. 3.
Yale is back in action on Friday night against 17th-ranked Connecticut at 7 p.m. at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium.
