Yale Defeats Georgetown 2-0 in ECAC Women's Soccer Classic

CAPE COD, Mass. - Jamie Ortega had a goal and an assist as Yale blanked Georgetown 2-0 in first game of the ECAC Women's Soccer.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead at 30:50 when freshman Mimi Macauley scored on the right side of the net as the Hoya goalie stepped out. It was her first career goal. Ortega increased the lead to 2-0 on a breakaway and open shot on net midway through the second half.
Georgetown sophomore goalkeeper Louisa Butler made six saves while Yale junior goalkeeper Sarah Walker tallied nine saves and posted her second shutout of the season. The Bulldogs have allowed only two goals in three games. Both teams recorded 13 shots on goal.
"This was a big win for us against a quality Big East opponent," said Yale head coach Rudy Meredith.
Yale's Macauley and Georgetown's Nicole DePalma were awarded the ECAC Clancy's Restaurant Player of the Game honors.
With the win, Yale improves to 2-1 overall, while Georgetown falls to 0-5 overall.
