FAIRFAX, Va. - Laurel Karnes, Maggie Westfal and Trista Choksi all scored as Yale won its fifth straight game, cruising to a 3-0 victory over George Mason on a rainy and hot night at George Mason Stadium. The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 12-1 during the winning streak.
Karnes gave Yale a 1-0 lead when she scored off a corner kick late in the first half. Christina Huang notched the assist. The Bulldogs then sealed the victory by scoring twice in a 2-minute, 26-second stretch of the second half. Westfall got the first goal when her one-timer from the edge of the box beat Patriots' goalkeeper Kasey Davenport. Choksi then completed the scoring with her first career goal, assisted by Lindsey Weening.
Yale (5-2) outshot George Mason 11-10.
"It's good to get another win on the road," said Yale head coach Rudy Meredith. Now we have to get ready for Maryland, another tough opponent."
The Bulldogs, who are in the midst of four straight road games, play the Terps on Sunday at 2 p.m.
