NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Kelly Shimmin scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half as Central Connecticut (8-1-1) edged Yale 1-0 at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium. Yale goalkeeper Sarah Walker stopped Shimmin's initial shot, but she got the rebound and fired a shot that deflected off a Yale defender and into the goal.
The Bulldogs (4-4) outshot Central 13-6 and had consistent pressure in the final minutes but were unable to get the equalizer.
Sabrina Mariani made seven saves to post the shutout in goal for the Blue Devils, who are unbeaten in their last eight games.
Walker finished with three saves for Yale.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday at 4 p.m. when they host Harvard in a key Ivy League contest.
