Yale Drops 1-0 Decision At Harvard
Oct. 2, 2004
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Alisha Moran scored the only goal of the game in the 31st minute as Harvard edged Yale 1-0 in an Ivy League game at Ohiri Field. Moran's goal came off a fantastic feed from Liza Barber. She found Moran at the top of the box, and Moran swiftly directed it into the right upper 90 for the early advantage. Sarah Walker had a strong game in goal for the Bulldogs, finishing with a season-high 12 saves.
"It was a good effort," said Yale head coach Rudy Meredith. "We had some opportunities and didn't finish them. That was the difference."
Both teams generated offense, but both goalkeepers turned in impressive efforts. Walker made several point-blank stops and several more off Harvard corner kicks. Harvard's Katie Shields was just as good at the opposite end, as she made eight saves on the afternoon.
Harvard (3-4-2, 1-1 Ivy) outshot Yale (5-4, 0-2 Ivy) 24-14.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Quinnipiac at 7 p.m. at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium.
