NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Lindsey Weening and Christina Huang both scored as Yale snapped a four-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over Quinnipiac at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium. Mimi Macauley assisted on both goals, and Sarah Walker, Chloe Beizer and Susan Starr combined to make four saves to post the Bulldogs' fifth shutout of the season.
After not scoring in the previous four games, Yale wasted little time getting on the board against the Bobcats. Weening settled a feed from Macauley right in front of the goal and fired a shot into the lower right corner at the 2:04 mark. Yale dominated the rest of the half, outshooting Quinnipiac 12-2, but had to settle for the 1-0 lead at the intermission.
The Bulldogs, though, added a quick insurance goal early in the second half when Huang headed in Macauley's cross at 48:12. Huang and Weening now share the team lead in goals with three apiece.
"It's good to get back on the winning track," said Yale head coach Rudy Meredith. "We scored twice and really could have scored more. We played a very solid game."
In 10 games this season, the Bulldogs have allowed only eight goals.
Yale outshot the Bobcats 19-6 for the game. Heather Zaccone made seven saves in goal for Quinnipiac (3-7-1).
The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday when they play at Dartmouth at noon.
