NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Laurel Karnes scored twice and Lee Anne Jasper added a pair of assists as Yale cruised to a 3-0 victory over Quinnipiac at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium. Mimi Macauley also scored for the Bulldogs, who outshot the Bobcats 10-1. Karnes opened the scoring at the 17:06 mark when she headed in a Jasper corner kick. The same duo hooked up again in almost identical fashion in the 62nd minute to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead, and Macauley sealed the victory when she settled a Jamie Ortega feed and scored from point-blank range at 67:14.
"Tonight was one of our better games of the season," said Yale head coach Rudy Meredith. "We did well defensively, and Laurel stepped up and scored two big goals. This was a good tuneup for our very important game against Dartmouth on Saturday."
Karnes leads the Bulldogs in goals (5) and points (12).
Heather Zaccone and Sarah Lusto combined to make four saves in goal for Quinnipiac (2-8-1).
Yale (5-4-1) hosts Dartmouth on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium.
