HAMILTON, N.Y. - Mimi Macauley scored two goals to lead Yale to a 2-1 win against Colgate at Van Doren Field. The Bulldogs snapped Colgate's six-game unbeaten streak and the Raiders' eight-game unbeaten streak at Van Doren Field. Yale has now won five straight games and is 9-4 overall.
"It was a great weekend for us," said Yale head coach Rudy Meredith, who watched his team beat Cornell 2-0 on Saturday. "The kids stepped it up and got it done."
Macauley's first goal was an unassisted tally from the left corner of the outside box during the 19th minute. Her second goal came less than three minutes later off a corner kick by Lindsey Weening to Laurel Karnes.
Junior Kelly Kuss capitalized on a corner kick by Megan Bergman to Allison Bernardini in the 87th minute to put the Raiders on the board, but the comeback started too late, and Yale was able to fight off additional Colgate scoring attempts.
Sarah Walker played all 90 minutes between the pipes for the Bulldogs and recorded five saves. Freshman Carly Sousa played the second half of the game in relief of junior Luisa Miller and recorded three saves to keep Yale from scoring in the final 45 minutes.
Yale outshot the Raiders, 19-13, but Colgate had two more corner kicks than the Bulldogs, 8-6.
