ITHACA, N.Y. - Emma Whitfield scored twice and Maggie Westfal added a pair of assists as Yale cruised to a 3-1 victory over Cornell at Berman Field. Miyuki Hino also had a goal for the Bulldogs, who have won two straight games and three of their last four.
"This was our second consecutive strong performance on the road," said Yale head coach Rudy Meredith, who saw his team beat Dartmouth 2-0 last Saturday. "Hopefully we can carry the positive momentum into our game with Penn next week."
Hino got Yale on the board when she finished a nice Becky Brown cross at 16:58. It was the third goal in the last two games for Hino, and Brown's 10th assist of the season, the second most in school history. She needs only one more to tie Blanca Fromm's Yale record, set in 1997.
The Bulldogs (7-5-1, 2-2 Ivy) increased their lead to 2-0 early in the second half when Whitfield knocked home a Westfall cross.
Cornell (1-9-1, 0-4 Ivy) cut the deficit to one on Brook Chang's goal at 53:45, but Whitfield's second goal, again assisted by Westfal, sealed the win with just 2:13 remaining in the second half.
Yale outshot the Big Red 21-8 and had an 8-0 edge in corner kicks.
Ayana Sumiyasu posted the victory in goal for the Bulldogs.
After three straight games on the road, Yale finally returns to the friendly confines of Reese Stadium next Saturday to host defending Ivy League champion Penn. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m.
