PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Jessica Fuccello scored and added an assist to lead Penn to a 2-1 victory over Yale in a key Ivy League match at Rhodes Field. Natalia Mann scored for the Bulldogs on a penalty kick in the second half. The loss dropped Yale (7-6, 2-2 Ivy) two games behind Penn, which at 4-0 in league play is off to its best start in school history.

Fuccello opened the scoring just 8:14 into the game when she headed an Ellen Gregory cross into the top left corner. The Quakers (10-2-1) scored again later in the first half and Fuccello was involved again. Her shot was deflected, but the ball went to Marisa Schoen, who knocked it in at 29:14.

After getting outshot 6-1 in the first half, the Bulldogs picked up their play in the second half. Yale had the first two shots, but Sophia Merrifield missed wide, and Sara Rose made a save on Natalie Romine. Mann got the Bulldogs on the board on a penalty kick at 78:28, but it was the last shot of the game.

The Quakers outshot Yale 7-4 in the game. Susan Starr, who came into the game leading the nation in save percentage, stopped two shots. Rose finished with one save for Penn.

The Bulldogs are off until playing two games in two days next weekend. Yale is at Columbia on Friday night at 7 p.m. before hosting New Hampshire at 5 p.m. at Reese Stadium on Saturday.
