Benson, Greeks Fall to Brazil to End Olympic Run

Patras, Greece - Yale women's soccer player Eleni Benson '05 and the Greek women's soccer team fell to Brazil 7-0 in the Olympics Tuesday, ending their run in the tournament. As one of four teams in Group G, the Greeks lost to the U.S. 3-0 last Tuesday then lost to Australia 1-0 on Saturday. Only the top three teams in the group advance to the semifinals. Benson took last season off from Yale to prepare for the Olympics. In 2002, she was a major contributor for the Bulldogs, finishing fourth on the team in scoring with 14 points. Her top performance came against Holy Cross when she scored twice. As a freshman, Benson started 12 games. Benson was recently featured on report by Sam Rubin '95 (, Yale Sports Publicity Department
