NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Crysti Howser, who scored both goals as Yale cruised to a 2-0 non-league victory over Central Connecticut on Sunday, was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week. It was the second straight week that a Bulldog was recognized. Hayley Zevenbergen earned the honor last week.
Howser's first goal came 8:24 into the first half. She took a pass from Laurel Karnes in front of the goal and beat Central Connecticut goalkeeper Ashley Ferra. Howser added an insurance goal midway through the second half when she headed Emma Whitfield's cross past Ferra to the left corner of the net.
Howser, who will also play hockey at Yale, has started all five games at midfield for the Bulldogs, who have won three straight games, all by posting shutouts.
Yale hosts Quinnipiac on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
